The Trinamool Congress has declared Dr. Saralin Dorphang as its candidate to contest the Assembly elections, 2023 from Mawhati constituency.
Dorphang was a medical officer in the health department. She is the daughter of former MLA and MDC of Mawhati, P.W Muktieh.
She was also elected as the Mawhati block president of the Trinamool.
The announcement was officially made today at a function held in Umlaper village which was attended by leader of opposition and former chief minister, Dr Mukul Sangma, TMC leaders George B. Lyngdoh and James Lyngdoh, General Secretary, Fabian Lyngdoh, Muktieh and other leaders of the party.
Speaking at the function, Sangma hoped that the constituency will vote for Dorphang for a change.
He slammed sitting MLA and cabinet minister, Dasakhiatbha Lamare stating, “The deplorable condition of the road is because people prefer to elect the richest person who only gives false promises during the election and in fact he could not do as per the expectation of the people.”
“People of Mawhati and the state this time should teach a lesson to the richest person by not voting for them, because their main aim to contest in the election is to serve their vested interest of making money and take advantage when they come to power,” he added.
