Ri-Bhoi police today recovered a dead body lying on the side of a road near Killing village. Injuries to the body suggest that the man, identified as Gojin Sangma, was the victim of a hit-and-run.
Police were called to the scene at around 9am after receiving intimation from a member of the public that there was a dead body on the side of the internal road in the Hatimara neighbourhood.
The body of the 35-year-old bore injuries to his head and body. His relatives informed police that the deceased had accompanied his cousin to the Killing Road at around 10pm the previous night.
A police case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
