National President of National People’s Party (NPP) Conrad K. Sangma today said that it is important to ensure that there is democratic participation of the youth when it comes to state and national building.
Addressing the youth convention organized by the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) at U Soso Tham Auditorium he said that engagement with the youth is crucial not just in a political party but for a larger goal and interest of serving society.
He ignited the youth with a thought that each of them should work with a passion and purpose to serve not only the party but the society and contribute to nation-building. “We have to work together for the larger goal to serve the State and contribute to nation building,” he stressed.
Earlier cabinet minister James Sangma said that the youth policy encompasses everything that is youth-related and the greatest gift the NPP gave to the youth of the state.
He said that the youth policy will shape and laid the foundation for the kind of direction the youth will take in the future.
Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Wanweiroy Kharlukhi said that his experience in the parliament is that nobody cares about the northeast people and the major reason is that we are never united and always divided.
“It is only the NPP which is a national party with a regional outlook and if we can send more than 15 MPs everyone will listen to us and time has come to fight with our brian and unitedly,” he said adding that the NPP should not win only in Meghalaya but in the entire northeast including Assam.
NPP National Vice President Prestone Tyngsong said that the NPP created a record by taking up issues dared by none.
“We will carry the agenda of the NPP up to the village level and in the 2023 election the NPP will secure about 50 seats,” he stated.
Stating that the theme of the NPP is one voice one northeast, he reminded that when the CAB agitation was revolving around the entire country, it was NPP leader Conrad Sangma who led the protest and opposed the passage of the CAB.
“He (Conrad Sangma) took the pain to collect all the regional parties and it was him who took an all political parties delegation to Delhi to meet the union home minister which is the start of the one voice one northeast,” he added.
