Former Sohiong MLA, HDR Lyngdoh, is sticking with the Congress even though it is going through a crisis of confidence at the moment.
Lyngdoh, who was a cabinet minister in the previous Congress-led state government but lost his seat in 2018, said this at the launch of a football tournament by the Rangshken Youth Congress Committee yesterday.
Despite the Congress losing its hold of all of his MLAs – 12 quitting for the Trinamool Congress and five being suspended for deciding to support the government – and many MDCs and other members, Lyngdoh said that he will be loyal to the party.
Despite the troubles, Lyngdoh retains confidence in the party’s strength at the grassroots level and the Congress will win seats in next year’s state election.
“I’m very much with the Congress and I will contest from the Congress and I’m hopeful that the people of Sohiong will give their support,” he said.
