The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides today celebrated World Founder’s Day and World Thinking Day, which commemorate the birthday of the founder of the scouting movement Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave Baden Powell, both of whom were born on the same day though many years apart, on the theme ‘Our World, Our Equal Future: the environment and gender equality’.
The official function was held at the MBSG state headquarters here.
Kenneth Kharkongor, State Commissioner (Scouts), graced the event as the chief guest and dignitaries and members of the MBSG were also present.
Kharkongor, in his address, reiterated the importance of tackling the menace of plastic and urged the youth to take up this challenge immediately for a better future and a cleaner environment, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of proper management of plastic usage.
The programme also saw members reaffirm their commitment to continue to uphold the Scout Promise. The members of the State Youth Committee of the MBSG also presented a musical mashup on the occasion.
