Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong today said that the DONER Ministry has sanctioned Rs 126.88 crore for construction of the the Sonapur-Borkhat road in East Jaintia Hills district.
This was informed to a delegation of the joint action committee of the dorbar shnongs of Hingaria, Huroi, Lahalein and Lejri villages who met the deputy chief minister.
The delegation were informed that tender has been called and laying of the foundation stone will be held at Huroi village on April 2022, thereafter work will commence which is expected to be complete within two years.
Happy with the meeting the delegation said that the long standing demand of the people has finally been met. “With the construction of the road, it will pave the way for all round development of the border population. We are hopeful that the government will also address other problems of the villages,” the JAC said.
