The Jaiñtia Student Union (JSU), Khliehriat circle halted operations of a stone crusher unit in Mynkre village citing pollution caused by absence of a filtering system.
Members of the organisation led by its president Livingson Sama had inspected the unit and stated that the unit does not have any system in place to filter smoke.
Sama said that smoke that emits from the unit will impact the health of the people living in those areas. He said that in charge of the unit was asked to halt operations until a proper chimney or filter system is installed in the unit.
