The ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya organized an Awareness and cum Training Programme on Organic Certification Process under Participatory Guarantee System -India on 2nd December, 2021 at KVK conference hall. The programme was attended by 40 farmers of ginger and pineapple clusters from Madan Nonglakhiat and Pahambir Them village. Dr. Utpal Barua, SMS Horticulture, KVK Ri Bhoi in his opening remarks urged farmers to draw benefit of organic certification through BRDC, Shillong and increase profit through selling of horticultural produce at better price.
The chief guest of the programme, Dr. M. Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist & Head, KVK Ri-Bhoi emphasised on expediting organic certification of produce and land so that farmers can double their income by exporting horticultural produce.
Dr. Susan M Warjri and Dr. Sophie Majaw facilitated by Ms. Ezagloria Kharmawphlang of Bio Resources Development Centre, Shillong delivered lecture on organic certification procedures and its benefits.
