There were no Covid-related fatalities recorded in Meghalaya for the second consecutive day today, while there were just 31 new cases as well as 89 recoveries.
This is the first time that the state has gone two days without a Covid death since mid-April, when the second wave was just getting started. This was also the third day in the last four without a coronavirus death.
East Khasi Hills recorded 25 new cases today and there were six between the other 11 districts. The seven-day rolling average of new cases thus dropped to 48, the lowest it has been since April 13.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 57 recoveries, West Khasi Hills 19 and 13 between the other nine districts.
There are now 529 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 332 active cases, West Khasi Hills 93, West Jaiñtia Hills 43, Ri-Bhoi 29, West Garo Hills 13, East Garo Hills seven, East Jaiñtia Hills three, South West Garo Hills three, North Garo Hills two, South Garo Hills two and South West Khasi Hills two.
In all, Meghalaya has had 83,415 Covid-19 cases, of which 529 are active, 81,440 have recovered and 1,446 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 97.63 percent. The fatality is 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 48.00 and for new deaths is 1.00 (lowest since April 26).
