A two day medical camp is underway at Dakopgre, Tura for the welfare of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents of the five districts of the Garo Hills region.
The camp which will conclude tomorrow is being organised by the Zila Sainik Welfare office with the support of HQ 101 Area.
Specialist like Gynecologist, Medical, ENT, Eye Specialist amongst others were present to attend to the service of the people. More than 200 veterans, widows and their dependents from all over Garo Hills attended the camp.
Meanwhile, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh have provided all the necessary logistic support, laboratory facilities at the Civil Hospital, Tura as well as police assistance for smooth conduct of the camp. He also visited the medical camp and interacted with the ex-servicemen and their families.
The BSF Sector HQ Tura has also extended logistic support to the medical team and Col G K Rai (Retd), Director, Rajya Sainik Board Meghalaya and Col M M Singh, (Retd) ZSWO, Tura monitored and facilitated the camp and managed the veterans, widows and their dependents.
