The Seiñ Khynroo Chnong Byndihati (SKCB) in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit of East Jaiñtia Hills District conducted an awareness programme yesterday on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and the harmful effects of drugs addiction.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police of East Jaiñta Hills, J Mirom, stressed that drugs like cocaine, heroin, yaba tablets, marijuana, and other intoxicants not only affect a person’s physical and mental health but also society as a whole.
He urged the youth to abstain from falling prey to drug addiction that will destroy everything and ultimately result in death.
Sub Inspector Dakerri Shabong enlightened the audience on Section 21 IPC and the punishment and penalty involved.
