Today was the first day in more than four months that Meghalaya went without any officially recorded Covid-related fatalities.
The last time that this happened was on May 4, when the second wave was just getting started. Since then, the state has recorded 1,144 at 9.23 lives lost per day on average.
Statewide, there were 123 new Covid-19 cases and 253 recoveries.
East Khasi Hills recorded 93 new cases today, with the other 10 districts accounting for 30.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 166 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 20, South West Khasi Hills 17, West Khasi Hills 16, West Garo Hills 11, East Jaiñtia Hills 11 and 12 between the other five districts.
There are now 2,104 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,024 active cases, West Khasi Hills 431, Ri-Bhoi 189, West Jaiñtia Hills 183, South West Khasi Hills 125, West Garo Hills 75, East Jaiñtia Hills 39, East Garo Hills 19, South West Garo Hills nine, North Garo Hills five and South Garo Hills five.
In all, Meghalaya has had 77,144 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,104 are active, 73,711 have recovered and 1,329 have died from the virus. The recovery rate increased to 95.55 percent. The fatality rate dipped to 1.72 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases dropped to 201.29 and fell for new deaths to 3.14.
