The Rangbah Shnongs of Mawkasiang, Siejiong, Tynring, and Mawpdang have rued the delay in the completion of the widening of the road from Ishyrwat to Mawpdang.
Despite writing to Public Works Development Minister Prestone Tynsong on the need to prioritise the completion of the project, they said that the roadworks have been stopped for the past few months, which was caused great inconvenience to commuters as the road is the backbone in connecting the four villages.
The road also connects as far as Ri-Bhoi and Jaiñtia Hills, giving people from these areas access to medical care at NEIGRIHMS.
“We urged Tynsong to speed up the construction of the widening of the road for the welfare and benefit of all,” the headmen stated.
Meanwhile, Mawryngkneng MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem informed that he has also written to the PWD Minister.
He said that the delay in road construction has also hampered farmers in taking their produce and goods to market.
