After West Khasi Hills district, people in South West Khasi Hills has formed a group called, ‘Ka Sur Na Shaphang Shathie Sepngi’ (SSS) to show their solidarity to the family of the ex-HNLC leader by holding a peace rally and a candle light vigil on August 28.
The SSS comprises of pressure groups, youth organisations, individuals informed KSU district president, Forwardman Nongrem and said that the groups aims to show how the public can unite to demand justice for Cherishterfield Thangkhiew, who was killed during a police raid on August 13.
A statement from the SSS has urged people to refrain from violence but to attend it as responsible citizens and voice against violation of human rights.
