      Containment measures in the State will has been extended from August 23 till further orders with certain activities being permitted.

      In East Khasi Hills where Covid-19 cases and hospital bed occupancy are still high, Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo informed the entry of tourists is not permitted even as public parks like Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, are permitted to re-open from Monday.

      The Divisional Forest Officer (Social Forestry) and the Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife), East Khasi Hills will make arrangements for compliance to order of the government with regards to local, Laloo said.

      Other Parks privately owned are also permitted to re-open for vaccinated persons and they will submit an application to the DC’s office at dcofficeshillong@gmail.com, with detailed plan for SOPs and undertaking.

      The Deputy Commissioner also informed that non-contact sports like, Archery, Shooting, Cycling, Athletics and Running, indirect contact sports like, Golf, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Weightlifting and Billiards are allowed.

      Also minimal-contact sports like, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball and Cricket for training purposes only by Sports Clubs and Associations have been permitted.

      Also competitions have also been permitted but no spectators are permitted.

      Swimming has also been permitted in places with regulated entry such as resorts, club pools and public pools with staggered timings and prior bookings.

      Except for non-contacts sports other categories are restricted to persons above 18 years and who are vaccinated.

      The Deputy Commissioner also said that political, public and social gatherings are not permitted including conferences, meetings and training.

      Night curfew under will commence from 7 pm to 5 am daily from Monday. “There shall be a total ban on movement during this time. Any unauthorized movement during curfew hours will be met with penalties,” Laloo said.

      Meanwhile, the East Khasi Hills district administration has informed that it will allow 50 per cent of private transport in a day from August 23 on odd-even basis.

      On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays vehicles ending with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will ply, while on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays vehicles ending with even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6 & 8) will be allowed on the road.

      The Deputy Commissioner also informed that 50 per cent of commercial vehicles for Shillong Urban Agglomeration and adjoining areas will be allowed per day.

      Commercial vehicles like Local Taxi, Auto-Rickshaw and Maxi Cabs (SSPTS) will ply on odd-even basis on alternate days.

      Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays vehicles ending with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will ply while on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays vehicles ending with even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6 & 8) will be allowed on the road.

      However, inter-district movement of both commercial and private vehicles is still not allowed.

      The Deputy Commissioner stated that any inter-district movement or for any other emergency purposes will be only through passes duly obtained from the authority concerned.

      The East Khasi Hills district administration also informed that shops dealing in essential commodities as notified by the Incident Commanders under each Zone in Shillong Urban Agglomeration and Sub Divisional Officers (Civil)/Block Development Officers in Rural area will open not more than five times a week.

      Days of opening will be decided by the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil)/Block Development Officer/ Incident Commander in consultation with the CCMTs concerned.

      Meanwhile, non-essential shops may be permitted to open, each upto four times a week only, on days to be decided and as per regulation of the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil)/Block Development Officer/Incident Commander concerned in consultation with the CCMTs.

      All shops will open from 9 am to 5 pm on each day and shall remain closed on Sundays, while those in market areas and Ïewduh will be regulated via separate orders.

      The administration has also permitted teer counters and archery to open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
