The National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has floated tender for rehabilitation and upgradation of Nongstoin-Rambrai-Kyrshai road up to Meghalaya-Assam Border from 0.335 km to 34.039 km to two-lane.
The work will be carried out on EPC mode (Package-I) under SARDP-NE Phase-A entailing an investment of Rs 231.36 crore in a period of 24 months.
The selected bidder shall be responsible for designing, engineering, procurement and construction of the project under and in accordance with the provisions of engineering, procurement and construction contract to be entered into between the bidder and the NHIDCL in the form provided as part of the bidding documents.
The selected bidder shall also be responsible for the maintenance of the project during the Defect Liability Period.
The scope of work will broadly include rehabilitation, upgradation and augmentation of the existing carriageway to two-lane with/ without paved shoulders standards with construction of new pavement, rehabilitation of existing pavement
Further, the work includes construction and/or rehabilitation of major and minor bridges, culverts, road intersections, interchanges, drains, etc. as detailed in the Schedules and maintenance of the project during the Defect Liability Period.
On commissioning, the road will serve as a lifeline to the people of West Khasi Hills, especially Nongstoin by directly connecting with Assam.
The Nongstoin-Rambrai-Kyrshai road was approved by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on September 25, 2015 after the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) by Holtec, a consultant based in Gurgaon, Haryana.
