Complying with the Home (Political) Department, permitting up to 20 percent of commercial transport in urban areas and 50 percent in rural areas in East Khasi Hills district the administration stated that city bus, mini bus, local taxi and auto rickshaw (excluding SPTS, SSTS & SSPTS) from July 5 to July 10 will ply from 6 am to 6 pm.
On July 5 (Monday) commercial vehicles ending with 3 and 4 will ply, on July 6 (Tuesday) vehicles ending with 5 and 6 will ply, On July 7 (Wednesday) vehicles ending with 7 and 8 will ply, on July 8
(Thursday) vehicles ending with 9 and 0 will ply on July 9 (Friday) vehicles ending with 1 and 2 will ply and on July 10 (Saturday) vehicles ending with 3 and 4 will ply.
For Shillong Urban Agglomeration and Adjoining Areas at 20 percent per day – city buses, mini buses, local taxis and auto-rickshaws will ply within Shillong Urban Agglomeration and adjoining areas only – areas falling within whole of Municipality area, whole of Cantonment area, all Census towns and villages under Mawlai C & RD Block, all Census Towns and villages under Mawpat C & RD Block, areas under Mylliem C & RD Block.
However, the district administration said that there will be no transportation of passengers outside Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas as mentioned above.
In areas falling within Sohra and Pynursla (Civil) Sub-Division, within C & RD Blocks of Mawryngkneng, Mawkynrew, Mawsynram, Sohiong and Mawphlang C & RD Blocks 33 percent of vehicles are allowed to ply.
On day one vehicles ending with 2, 3 and 4 will be allowed to ply, on day two vehicles ending with 5, 6 and 7 will ply, on day three vehicles ending with 8, 9 and 0 will ply and on day four vehicles ending with 1, 2 and 3 will ply.
Seating capacity for buses would be – 50 percent or not more than 2 + 16, for local taxis three passengers are allowed while for auto-rickshaws two passengers are allowed.
