An anti-narcotics team and staff of Madanrting Police Station arrested two people on suspicion of drugs-related activities recently.
According to a release by the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police today, police on Saturday received intelligence that a consignment of drugs was delivered to one person in Demthring.
On searching the residence of the suspect, heroin amounting to 195.84 grammes was found and seized by the police. Another drug peddler was also arrested near the residence and a search of his vehicle uncovered Rs 3.28 lakh in cash that was concealed within.
More cash, amounting to Rs 1.086 lakh was also seized from another dwelling, which the police were led to by one of the suspects.
In this connection, the two suspects have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.
