The Khasi Students Union (KSU) today apprehended seven vehicles near NEIGRIHMS ferrying non-tribal labourers from other states.
The workers were reportedly on their way to the construction site for the new Meghalaya Assembly in Mawdiangdiang.
The vehicles they were travelling in, some with Meghalaya licence plates and others from Assam, did not have car passes to travel during the ongoing lockdown.
The pressure group wanted to know how these workers could breeze past the Umling checkpoint in Ri-Bhoi and asked who would take responsibility if they happen to be carrying the coronavirus.
