New containment orders have been issued by the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaiñtia Hills to fight the spread of Covid-19.
All areas falling under Khliehriat East and Khliehriat West will be under containment from Tuesday 5am to 6am on May 10 in order to restrict unregulated entry and exit of people.
Only essential activities will be allowed during this period.
Meanwhile, the DC also announced that all schools in the entire district will remain closed until May 10 as well.
The district administration has also sought to restrict activity in Ladrymbai Khliehdupon, Ladrymbai B, Ladrymbai Dongwah, Ladrymbai Datsympein, Byndihati, Cheihruphi, Soo Kilo, Umpleng, Lumshnong and Nongjri markets to 5pm on May 10. In these areas political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted until further orders.
Weddings and funeral services are, however, permitted subject up to a maximum of 30 persons and with prior permission from the DC. All dhabas, hotels, restaurants, tea shops and food stalls shall remain closed except those that have obtained special permission and which shall operate at 50 per cent of seating capacity.
Meanwhile, the West Jaiñtia Hills District Magistrate has also ordered closure of Iawthymme (JHADC market) in Jowai for violation of the containment measures related to opening of shops.
