The attention of the North East Slow Food and Agrobiodiversity Society (NESFAS) has switched lately to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic, with the organisation working on spreading knowledge about the disease to partner communities in Meghalaya and Nagaland.
NESFAS has been working with the Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment (SURE) in Jowai, Shillong Service Centre and North East Network to reach out to 130 rural partner communities in the hope that the training imparted will ripple out to other villages.
Community volunteers and frontline workers are currently benefiting from NESFAS training online. The training relates to medical and home standard operating procedures (SOPs) at the village level, vaccination drive, basic lifesaving skills and more.
