The East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has said that entry, testing and quarantine protocols of the State apply to all individuals/returnees irrespective of the profession.
In an order issued yesterday, the District Magistrate said, “Compliance to this is required in the interest of public health and to avoid a surge in cases. Anyone found violating the entry, testing and quarantine protocols shall be liable for penal actions as per law.”
The order was necessitated after reports received that returnee(s) working in various Central Government offices/banking institutions/private offices/Armed forces are not following the entry, testing and quarantine protocols as instructed by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya and that officials are resuming their duties upon arrival in Shillong while their test results are being awaited.
