As part of the containment measures that will come into force from May 1 to 10, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner informed today that travel in and out of the Greater Shillong area will be banned during the period.
The prohibition will come into force with the other restrictions from 5 am on Saturday.
There are numerous exemptions, however, that will apply to healthcare services, agriculture and veterinary, transport of essential items, movement of students/teachers/staff in relation to exams, supply of medicines, home delivery services, accredited or registered press, construction workers, goods vehicles, e-commerce services and essential government duty. Passes for movement of such cases are not required.
For emergency purposes, the general public can obtain a pass online on eastkhasihills.gov.in.
Any persons found violating the movement protocols or furnishing false self-declarations could face penal action.
