Another 146 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Meghalaya today, while the number of vaccination doses administered in the state crossed 2 lakh.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 115 of the new cases. Twenty-six of these were in the Sacred Heart Theological College cluster in Mawlai. There were also new cases among 29 returnees, 31 high-risk contacts, seven armed forces/paramilitaries, seven influenza-like illnesses (ILIs), five detected through screening, one health worker, one in Bishnupur, one in Jhalupara, four in Laban, one in Laitumkhrah, one in Nongthymmai and one in Khyndailad.
Ri-Bhoi reported 20 cases (11 high-risk, four returnees, three through screening, one ILI and one health worker), West Jaiñtia Hills four (all returnees), West Garo Hills four (three through screening, one returnee) and East Jaiñtia Hills three (two returnees, one ILI).
There were also 38 recoveries – 34 in East Khasi Hills and four in East Jaiñtia Hills. Three active cases also migrated to West Bengal from West Jaiñtia Hills.
There are now 1,238 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 894 active cases, West Jaiñtia Hills 132 and Ri-Bhoi 117.
In all, Meghalaya has had 15,631 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,238 are active, 14,236 have recovered and 157 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has fallen to 91.08 percent. The fatality rate is 1.00 percent. Over 2.02 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Meghalaya as of today.
