Around 70 per cent of police personnel in Meghalaya have been vaccinated against Covid-19, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui informed today.
As frontline workers, the police were high priority recipients of the jab.
With the second wave of the virus upon the state, Rymbui has directed the Director General of Police, R Chandranathan, to make arrangements for the supply of oxygen at battalion headquarters, such as in Mawiong and Goeragre, where better health infrastructure is available.
“Police personnel who test positive should be treated in our health facilities rather than having to send them to public health facilities,” the minister said.
