The South West Khasi Hills District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) will organise a week-long programme on the occasion of National Deworming Day.
The programme will run from April 12 to 19 where deworming tablets will be distributed to session sites and anganwadi centres.
The DMHO urged parents, caregivers, community leaders, teachers, anganwadi workers and other frontline health workers to take an active part in this programme, which will positively impact the health of children as they may suffer from several harmful health issues because of worms, such as anaemia, nutritional impairment, loss of appetite, weakness, stomach ache, nausea, tendency to vomit, diarrhoea, etc. Covid-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to during the programme so as to create a safe environment.
The National Deworming Day programme aims at helping children from 1-19 years old to become worm-free. The deworming tablets will be distributed free of cost at session sites and anganwadi centres.
