The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Amlarem civil sub-division has promulgated an order under Section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting the public from washing clothes, utensils and vehicles, bathing and the dumping of garbage in the water source of the Amlarem Water Supply Scheme in Jarain.
The order was passed after it was noticed that members of the public were using the water body for such activities, causing pollution that could pose a “serious health hazard” to human life by affecting the quality of the drinking water. The ban comes into force with immediate effect.
