The Tyrsa Mawmarin Maweit clan has decided to move court against West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Tableland Lyngwa for imposition of Section 144 CrPC along the Maweit- Mawrynñiaw road.
Elder of the clan, Kroswell Tyrsa said that the DC had prohibited movement of vehicles along the five kilometer road which is currently under construction through the PMGSY scheme.
Tyrsa said construction of the Maweit- Mawrynñiaw is ongoing for a year now and the Deputy Commissioner did not heed to the request made by the traditional heads not to stop movement of vehicles.
He alleged that imposition of Section 144 CrPC along the road has affected movement of villagers from Miangkaiñ, Lamjew, Nongshilliang, Thatija, Nongpdeng Chahlang and other villages.
As per the February 3, 2021 order the district administration prohibited movement of heavy loaded vehicles along the route.
