The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has warned that legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to “disrupt movement or prevent commuters and the general public from plying on the roads.”
This warning comes in the wake of escalation in the ongoing transport strike led by the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles (MJACCV), planned from tomorrow.
The government is “actively considering” a further reduction in the price of fuel, the DC, Isawanda Laloo, added in a press release today.
Meanwhile, many schools in the city have rescheduled their internal examinations and tests for students in view of the transport strike.
