Ranikor MLA and MDC, Pius Marweiñ has assured people of Domiasiat village to renovate the Government LP School which was shut down for 13 years.
Marweiñ who visited the abandoned school today assured members of the dorbar and villagers that renovation works will begin next February.
The Domiasiat Government LP School was shut down since 2007 after several protests against uranium mining in the state by various pressure groups. An assurance was also made by the Director of School, Education and Literacy that the school will be reopened.
As children of this village have to walk about 10 kilometres to attend classes in neighbouring villages, recently the Presbyterian Youth Today International Network has decided to rebuild the school to be named ‘Spility Lyngdoh Langrin Memorial English School’ which is after anti-uranium activist, late Spility Lyngdoh Langrin.
Meanwhile, Marweiñ during his visit promised villagers to look into the requirements of the village like roads and electricity.
