After a respite of a few days, one more Covid-19 death was reported in West Garo Hills today.
This was the 17 fatality from the disease in the district and 134th in the state.
Of the new cases 28 were in East Khasi Hills, three in West Garo Hills and one in Ri-Bhoi.
Two new infections in East Khasi Hills were among armed forces/paramilitaries, one of police personnel and two among returnees. There were also several cases in various clusters, including five in Nongrim Hills, two in Laitumkhrah and two in Police Bazaar. Two of those in West Garo Hills were health workers.
The recoveries were divided between East Khasi Hills (64), West Garo Hills (seven), Ri-Bhoi (six), South West Garo Hills (five), East Jaintia Hills (four), South West Khasi Hills two and East Garo Hills (one).
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,253 Covid-19 cases, of which 499 are active, 12,620 have recovered and 134 have died from the virus.
The recovery rate is now 95.22 per cent. The fatality rate is 1.01 per cent.
