Villagers of Pasyih, West Jaiñtia Hills, have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner for help in sorting out their water supply problems after seeing their natural source of drinking water spoiled by sand mining and polluting businesses in the area.
In a letter to the DC, Sistina Lamare said that a natural source of water has been wrecked by the pollution of garages set up nearby as well as extractive sand mining operations.
There is only one small stream in the area but sand mining has “spoilt” its condition, she added.
Meanwhile, in a separate letter, Lamare and several other signatories appealed to the DC to aid the villagers in acquiring ration cards, which they have gone without thus far.
