Shillong, Aug 25: The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO), East Khasi Hills, has demanded priority recruitment of qualified local youth in Jio Telecom.
In a statement, HITO said it met Jio representatives and sought greater employment for Meghalaya youth in human resources, supervisory, managerial and other posts as per eligibility, citing scarcity of jobs for educated and skilled youth within the state.
The organisation said the Jio representatives acknowledged concerns and assured opportunities would be provided to qualified local youth subject to recruitment norms.
HITO appealed to other private companies operating in the state to adopt a similar approach for economic empowerment of local youth.
