Shillong, Apr 9: A day after the dorbar shnong of Golf Links locked the entry points to the area, which was in response to an entry restriction imposed by the Shillong Club the issue was resolved with the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner.
A meeting was held today with Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah and attended by the members of the dorbar shnong, led by local MLA Alexander Laloo Hek.
Hek, who is also a member of the committee of the Shillong Club, which maintains the Golf Course, told reporters that residents of the area have protested against the restricted access to the golf links, particularly for morning walks and the use of the Madan Saw.
He said after deliberations with the Deputy Commissioner, several agreements were reached to rectify these concerns, ensuring that residents of Mawroh, Golf Links, Shyiap, and Pynthorbah can enjoy easier access.
One of the key resolutions states that residents of the Golf Link dorbar will be exempted from entry fees to the golf course from 6 am to 8 am provided they present a valid residential certificate endorsed by the headman or EPIC.
Additionally, players from the Pynthorbah, Golf Link, Mawroh, and Lumshyiap dorbar shnongs will be allowed specific timings for use of the Madan Saw with prior notice given to the Shillong Club. It was agreed that no fees would be charged to these players.
Security personnel were also discussed, with an agreement to monitor the situation closely and address any issues with the Shillong Club’s administration as necessary.
In respect of the security personnel, it was agreed that those security guards under scanner will be observed and should there be any further issue the same will be intimated to the Shillong Club.
