Shillong, Dec 16: The closing ceremony of Audit Week 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on December 15 here jointly by the three offices of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, namely the office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Principal Accountant General (A&E) and Regional Capacity Building & Knowledge Institute.
The closing ceremony was held with the chief guest being Calvin Harris Kharshiing, Additional Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General, office of the Comptroller and Auditor General – NER, Guwahati.
Lhunkhothang Hangsing, Principal Accountant General, delivered the inaugural address where he spoke on the introduction of new forms of audit including concurrent audit and stressed on the importance of adopting these new standards of auditing. He also urged his staff to be ready to handle whatever challenges may arise out of these new ways of working.
In the same sequence, Kharshiing addressed all the officers and employees present at the gathering. In his statement, he said that the main objective of this function is to celebrate the historic beginning of the Institution of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and its role and contribution in good Governance, Transparency and Accountability in the management of public resources over 166 years. In his speech, he further stressed that new technology involving Artificial Intelligence could be used in future audits.
On this occasion, the first, second and third prizes were presented to the winners of the quiz competition by the chief guest. Furthermore, the Principal Accountant General (Audit) presented the first, second, and third prizes to 12 winners, divided into four categories of the painting competition, three in each category.
