Shillong, Nov 24: North Garo Hills is set to host the A∙we Festival 2025, a vibrant two-day event from December 9-10 at Mini Stadium Resubelpara.
The district administration said the festival will showcase the region’s athletic prowess, indigenous culture, and community spirit through sports, traditional games, and cultural exhibitions.
The event features thrilling competitions like indigenous games (Wa∙pong sika, An∙ding oka, Rong∙ma Chilsusaa), Men’s Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Tug of War, and Arm Wrestling, with attractive cash prizes.
Cultural highlights include the Miss A∙we Beauty Contest, A∙we Dance Battle, The Voice of A∙we, and live performances by bands like Jessie Lyngdoh and Nokpante.
Local arts and crafts will be showcased by departmental stalls promoting North Garo Hills’ heritage.
The festival aims to foster unity, pride, and a celebration of the region’s rich cultural legacy, the district administration said.
