Shillong, Sep 25: The School of Technology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), hosted a groundbreaking demonstration of practical 5G use cases, showcasing innovative solutions for societal challenges.
The event was held under the project “Deepening of Scientific Research on 5G Use Cases for Solving Challenges of Society,” funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and implemented by the North Eastern Regional Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMS).
The demonstration highlighted the potential of 5G technology in transforming various sectors, including agriculture, safety, environment, and connectivity.
Students and innovators from the NEHU 5G Lab showcased their prototypes, including AgroMegh: Smart agricultural solutions for farmers, VayuCheck WiFi: Wireless connectivity monitoring system, Touch-Based Security Device: Enhanced personal and digital security, Soil Sync IoT: Precision soil monitoring for agriculture, Gas Guard: Safety device for gas leakage detection, Smart Waste Segregation Bin: Technology-driven waste management.
The event was attended by over 80 participants, including students, faculty, start-ups, researchers, and members of the public.
NEHU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Umdor graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries from the university and industry.
The event concluded successfully, fostering dialogue on the transformative potential of 5G technology in driving inclusive development and addressing societal challenges.
