Shillong, Sep 15:The areas around Baghmara in South Garo Hills and Mawsynram in East Khasi Hills recorded the heaviest rainfall today, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD had predicted wet weather in several places, with orange weather alerts issues for certain districts, though not, as it happens, for South Garo Hills.
The IMD issues map-based precipitation updates, with Baghmara and Mawsynram shaded in an orange denoting rainfall of between 130-204mm in the 24 hours to 8:30am this morning. Places around these two towns recorded 70-130mm and so did Nongstoin, a little north-west of Mawsynram.
There will be no orange alerts in place in the state tomorrow, though all of Meghalaya will be under a lower yellow alert. Weather forecasts are fluid, however, and the IMD may change its advice when it issues a new update tomorrow.
