Shillong, Aug 29: Laban MDC Ricky Shullai has accused the state government of intruding into the jurisdiction of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Shullai met the KHADC Chief Executive Member Shemborlang Rynjah today and apprised him of the Shillong Municipal Board’s (SMB) move to invite tenders for the construction of cemented roads, drains and other developmental activities in four MDC constituencies in Shillong.
Speaking to reporters, Shullai said the CEM told him that the KHADC has not received any information from the SMB regarding the tender but he will send a letter to the board immediately.
Shullai said that there has been correspondence from the SMB mentioning the allocation of funds through the 15th Finance Commission to the urban areas but it has not been mentioned that they are under the jurisdiction of the KHADC.
The Laban MDC stated that he had sent a letter to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, who is in charge of District Council Affairs, to urge them to talk to the government of India to resolve the issue.
