Three village organisations in Ri Bhoi district were today felicitated in recognition for their performance in various activities under the National Rural Livelihood Mission and Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Mission.
The three village organisations are Kynthuplang and Iasnohktilang from Mawlong village and Iasnohktilang from Niangbarilum village.
Cash award and mementos were given to all the leaders and members of the village organisations at a programme held at the Nongpoh community hall.
Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem urged the leaders and members of the village organisations to do their best in serving the society and community. He said the main aim of the National Rural Livelihood Mission is to empower women and hoped that through it a more sustainable community emerges to alleviate poverty
Nongpoh MDC Balajied Rani, assistant headman Proper, B. Lyngdoh, president of Ri Bhoi dorbar R.B Shadap, officers from Umling C&RD Block among others were present at the function.
