An NPP leader in Ri-Bhoi has quit in a row over the choice of candidate in the upcoming state election.
Plielad Tiewsoh, the NPP’s district vice-president and Nongpoh block president, announced his resignation over his unhappiness at the selection of Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong as the Nongpoh candidate for the NPP.
In a press communique, Tiewsoh said that he is fed up with the propaganda of the party and said that Mawlong is not able to take decisions of her own and cannot represent the people of Nongpoh.
“In October the party candidate Macdalyne S Mawlong approached me and told me to resign from the post of president as she will take over the post, which really upset me as a person who wanted to serve the party and the people of Nongpoh,” Tiewsoh said.”It was on December 5 I received the suspension letter from the NPP president of Ri-Bhoi district by citing that i am not working as per the norm of the party and on December 7 I decided to resign.”
Tiewsoh joined the NPP on the recommendation of former Chief Minister DD Lapang. He will soon announce which new party he is joining.
