The villages from Mawkynrew to Pingwait and Nohron will soon witness the construction of roads at a cost of around Rs 25 crore through the Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-3 of the Government of India.
The road from Mawkynrew to Pingwait has been allocated Rs 7.20 crore for the length of 5.60km while the road from Mawkynrew to Nohron has been allocated for Rs 17.82 crore for the length of 19km.
The allocation of funds for the construction of these two roads was revealed during the inspection by Banteidor Lyngdoh, MLA Mawkynrew Constituency on October 16.
The MLA also accompanied by the officers of the PWD (Roads) Department in charge of the construction of roads through the PMGSY, A Umdor, Chief Engineer, S Lytep, Executive Engineer NH Shillong By -Passed the division and others.
The MLA and officers were accompanied by the village leaders and elders.
After the inspection of these sections of road, the inspection of the road from Nohron to Mawtnum near Nongryngkoh was taken up.
In the past few months, there have been landslides in parts of this road which has disrupted traffic.
After the landslide, the MLA has directed the officers of the PWD (Roads) department to make walls in the areas where there is a risk of landslides again in case of rainfall.
After this, a meeting was held at Mawtnum where the MLA said that the plan to extend the road from Nohron to Mawtnum to Nongkynroh is still under discussion and ways are being made to implement it.
