Police have informed that there are two dead bodies that have been stored in the Shillong Civil Hospital morgue for more than a year each.
On December 18, 2021, an unidentified man was found dead in the jungle near Aunty’s Wine Shop in Polo, Shillong. The man was approximately 35-40 years old. An autopsy was carried out and the body has been held at the Civil Hospital morgue since as it has been unclaimed. Those who can identify the deceased can contact the Sadar Police Station (0364 2224818 or 2224400) or the police control room (0364 2222214 or 2222215).
In the other case, one Mahindra Dev Burman (approximately 49 years old) was found dead on February 24, 2022 in the BSNL quarters at Lower Rynjah, Shillong. An autopsy was carried out and the body has been held at the Civil Hospital morgue since as it has been unclaimed. Those who can identify the deceased can contact the Rynjah Police Station (0364 2230402) or the police control room (0364 2222214 or 2222215).
