Shillong, Nov 7: To commemorate 150 years of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’, various programmes were organised in the state today.
At ICAR-KVK Ri-Bhoi, participants sang the national song at the institute’s conference hall during a separate programme for which they had gathered.
The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the occasion, with party members from various regions of the state coming together to sing Vande Mataram in unison.
During the event, BJP members also made a solemn pledge towards “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi” and reaffirmed their dedication to building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
BJP state president Rikman G Momin, chief spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang, state vice-president Khrawboklang Basaiawmoit, state secretary Daniella Nonglait and minority morcha president Gagan Jain were present at the occasion.
