      There were 14 more Covid-related deaths recorded in Meghalaya today, the highest since July 29.

      Eight deaths were in East Khasi Hills, three in Ri-Bhoi, two in West Garo Hills and one in West Jaiñtia Hills. Twelve of the 14 were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.

      East Khasi Hills recorded 184 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 132, West Garo Hills 55, Ri-Bhoi 52, West Jaiñtia Hills 49, South West Khasi Hills 13, East Garo Hills 10, North Garo Hills 10, East Jaiñtia Hills seven, South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills one.

      In just the first six days of this month West Khasi Hills has added 482 cases, which is a 21 percent increase from all the cases it had recorded up to June 30. The district now has the second-highest number of active cases at 860.

      East Khasi Hills accounted for 235 recoveries, West Garo Hills 135, West Jaiñtia Hills 66, West Khasi Hills 36, East Jaiñtia Hills 34, East Garo Hills 17, North Garo Hills 11, South Garo Hills 10, South West Garo Hills 10 and Ri-Bhoi six.

      There are now 5,515 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 2,125 active cases, West Khasi Hills 860, West Garo Hills 728, Ri-Bhoi 584, West Jaiñtia Hills 548, South West Khasi Hills 280, East Jaiñtia Hills 108, North Garo Hills 83, East Garo Hills 75, South Garo Hills 66 and South West Garo Hills 58.

      In all, Meghalaya has had 68,107 Covid-19 cases, of which 5,515 are active, 61,445 have recovered and 1,147 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has risen to 90.22 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.68 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases dropped to 541.86 and increased for new deaths to 10.57.
