A two-day marketing and promotional workshop under the ‘Scheme on Studies for Promotion and Strengthening of Black Pottery at Tyrshang and Larnai villages’ is being organised by the Rural Craft and Engineering Division (RC&E) at Khliehtyrchi, West Jaintia Hills.
The training started yesterday with the inaugural function attended by the Joint Director of Commerce and Industries, ML Wanshong, and General Manager of the WJH District CIC, B Warjri.
The project is funded by the Department of Commerce and Industries (DCI) and the project is implemented by the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) Wardha, Maharashtra.
The main objective of this project is to make traditional industries more competitive with more market driven, productive, profitable, support employment for traditional industry, upgrade skills, improve technologies, etc.
Wanshong said that the artisans have benefited from the training provided from time to time and exposure trips have helped the artisans refine their craft and explore new designs and ideas.
K Venkata Rao, Deputy Director Rural Craft and Engineering, informed that the programme will create an awareness of different strategies and avenues of marketing and promotion of their products. The workshop will help them to upgrade their knowledge and skills in various aspects for running a business.
