A three-day workshop on building structured pedagogy for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills was organised for teachers, which concluded on September 28.
The participants consisted of FLN team from Samagra and DERT, content writers from seven DIETs, and 32 selected teachers from all districts across the State.
The workshop aims to equip teachers with appropriate teaching-learning material in order to improve the quality of teaching in the classrooms.
Organised by the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, SEMAM, Department of School Education & Literacy (DSEL), Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) in collaboration with Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission, and Centre for Research in Schemes and Policies (CRISP), the participants were exposed to Foundational Stage Education (Early Childhood Education and grades 1,2 and 3) envisaged under the National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework 2022.
The participants also learnt about various aspects of FLN, features and impact of structured lesson plans in improving student learning outcomes, best pedagogical practices in literacy, numeracy and in multilingual contexts. They created templates and sample lesson plans for the subjects of Mathematics, English, Khasi, and Garo and presented them to R.S.Manner Director, DERT.
As follow-up to the workshop, DERT and Samagra Shiksha FLN teams, content writers, and expert teachers will develop structured lesson plans for Foundational Stage Education.
