Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has said that he will be the first to resign if the Voice of the People Party (VPP) could prove any corruption against the NPP-led MDA government.
Speaking to reporters today he threw a challenge stating that if anyone finds an instance of corruption can approach the court and said that the allegations is a trick adopted by the VPP to hoodwink the citizens of the state.
“If you don’t want to go to authorities of the state government since you might feel that it is useless then there are the central agencies like the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate. Go as per the law, prove (the allegations) and I will be the first to resign as a Minister or as MLA if confirmed that Prestone is corrupt,” he said.
The state unit president of the NPP said that the allegations of the VPP that the three officers of the Lokayukta were ‘illegally and unceremoniously’ removed were not true.
He said that serving officers were appointed instead of the three who are retired officers, which has been done as per the Lokayukta Act.
He said that alleged scam worth crores of rupees in GHADC has been chargesheeted and already out of the jurisdiction of the Lokayukta and that the case is now in the court.
Tynsong said that the allegation of corruption against the government was to paint a wrong picture of the NPP. He said that the VPP is not taking up the removal of the three Lokayukta officials during its elections campaigns and has forgotten about the Reservation Policy, which was their main agenda till some months ago.
