The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has called for a public meeting at Teilang Play Ground in Dkhiah West on September 18 to discuss on the atrocious conditions of the national highway 6.
VPP, Khliehriat circle leader, Damewanhi Rymbai said that the public meeting will decide the people’s course of action as till date the government has remained tight lipped on pleas put forward by waheh shnongs and organisations.
He said, it is a disgrace for the State government and the NHAI for not addressing the concerns, especially when Khliehriat is the district headquarter of East Jaiñtia Hills.
Dkhar said the dismal condition of the highway leads to injuries, death, accidents and frequent breakdowns of vehicles. Not just that, there has been occasions where tyres blowout and stones or stand would whiz in the air to shops and pedestrians, he added.
The VPP leader further said, that elected representative should no longer wait for the government to decide or offer suggestions but to lead the people who have elected them to decide and let their concerns be heard.
