The Meghalaya State Volleyball Association (MSVA) has put in a formal letter seeking affiliation to the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA).
A delegation representing the MSVA, led by its president, Sanbor Shullai MLA, working president PT Passah, vice-president KV Kharlyngdoh, assistant secretary Gilbert Laloo and others submitted the formal request and had a consultation with MSOA working president John F Kharshiing here on Monday.
Informal discussions were also had with Paia B War Nongbri, the Assistant Director in the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. The MSVA officials had also met MSOA general secretary Finely Pariat last week.
Volleyball, a relatively minor sport in Meghalaya, at least at the competitive level, will be included in the 5th Meghalaya Games this year.
The MSVA was told that once it submits all necessary documents, the MSOA will process the application.
Monday’s meeting also discussed the need to activate and promote the MSVA at the district level. Kharshiing requested the MSVA to proceed with its preparatory activities while at the same time making efforts to complete submission of all the documents necessary for affiliation.
